Join Pittsburgh Freethought Community at the 24th Annual Pittsburgh Racial Justice Summit

The 24th Annual Pittsburgh Racial Justice Summit is a one and one-half day event dedicated to examining the state of race relations in the U.S. and to building pathways to deeper understanding, healing, and social action. Due to the pandemic, the Summit will be virtual. See the link below to register so you can participate in this vital event.

The Friday night Opening Ceremony and Keynote, includes a discussion among three exciting young award-winning authors  -  Damon Young, Deesha Philyaw, and Brian Broome - as well as a choral performance by the Pittsburgh Heritage Gospel Chorale, directed by Dr. Herbert V.R.P. Jones! On Saturday there will be a plenary session and an array of workshops from which to choose. PFC is sponsoring a panel which includes Black Nonbeliever Founder and President Mandisa Thomas ( seen below) on the Black Nonreligious Fight for Racial Justice.

Reflections on Past Summits from Pittsburgh Freethinkers:

John says, My attendance at the annual Pittsburgh Racial Justice Summit has convinced me that people from all walks of life can join in solidarity to become knowledgeable about racism and to work effectively together for racial justice in our community. We at PFC want our neighbors to know that we consider confronting racism and dehumanization to be a critical human challenge that transcends belief or nonbelief. To show that we are committed to being an active partner in the fight for racial justice we need to show up at events like this.

Dana says, Attendance at previous Summits has helped me to better understand the profound impacts of systemic racism, motivated me to be a better ally and informed me of ways in which I might do so. At the upcoming Summit I look forward to learning how I can engage in anti-racism work more effectively, and encourage everyone in the Pittsburgh Freethought Community, and beyond, to join in this important work.

Registration for the Summit is available on a sliding scale. Register here: 24th Annual Racial Justice Summit
