Speaking of Humanism:

How to Celebrate for Skeptics (not Cynics)

Sasha Sagan

December 13, 2022 | 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

The holiday season is approaching, but that might look a little different for those of us who know we are good without a god. Hyper religious marketing can make seasonal celebration frustrating. Join us on Tuesday, December 13th for our “How to Celebrate for Skeptics (not Cynics)”, featuring author Sasha Sagan, as we explore these topics and more. Sasha has published multiple essays and interviews on death, history, and nature from a secular viewpoint and is the author of For Small Creatures Such as We, an exploration of celebrations and rituals through a scientific lens.

Sasha Sagan is a writer and speaker. Her essays and interviews on death, history, and nature from a secular viewpoint have appeared in The Cut, O the Oprah Magazine, Lit Hub, and Atmos, among others. Sagan is the author of For Small Creatures Such As We: Rituals for Finding Meaning in Our Unlikely World, an exploration of celebrations and rituals through a scientific lens. Her public speaking on this topic is partially inspired by the work of her parents, Carl Sagan and Ann Druyan. Previously, Sagan was a television producer and filmmaker. Inverse named her to its Future 50 list of people who will be forces for good in the 2020s.

Speaking of Humanism is monthly series featuring humanist leaders brought to you by the American Humanist Association’s Center for Education.
