As our knowledge of AI and its capabilities expands, we increasingly recognize it as a technological shift that will profoundly impact both our societies and each individual. The Coming Wave is an engaging and thought-provoking book that describes how AI will be used to contribute to human progress, while pointing out the potential devastation this technology may cause.

Suleyman, in drawing from the past, shows how technological change is nearly unstoppable. With a balanced perspective, his discussion of AI and other new technologies help us to better understand and prepare for the future. He describes how these technologies will create prosperity, but also how they have the capacity to threaten the societal and global order.

As co-founder of DeepMind (part of Google), Suleyman approaches this topic with a broad outlook and a position of knowledge. In The Coming Wave, he offers many worthwhile ideas, including those that would constrict AI, for policymakers, governments, businesses, and all of us to contemplate.
